Solid walnut and figured maple, built by hand start to finish in my Yelm shop. The top is a single panel of figured maple — that rippling shimmer runs with the grain and shifts as you move around it, something no veneer or factory piece can fake. It rests on a walnut base joined with hand-cut mortise-and-tenon joinery, the arched apron accented with exposed joinery that’s as much structure as decoration.
No plywood, no screws, no shortcuts — just solid wood and traditional joinery meant to outlast its first owner. At 15″ × 15″ × 20″ it works as a side table, a nightstand, or a stand to show off a piece you’re proud of. Every board was planed, fit, and finished by one set of hands.
Commissions open for similar work in your choice of woods.
